Day 60 - Banja Luka

On Sunday morning we woke up and were treated to breakfast by my adorable grandpa, dida luka. He made a homemade tart out of cornmeal and his very own pumpkins from his garden. We also tried honey produced by his very own colony of bees. After this we took a walk around the neighborhood, and my brother pointed out things such as the old building we used to live in and his elementary school. I don't remember much since I was so young when I left but it felt really good to get in touch with my roots. It was also SO amazing to see my grandpa and my great aunt, tetka Bozana, as an adult. Every other time I've seen them I was a little kid and I felt that this time I could actually form a stronger connection with them and that is really important to me. After our walk around the neighborhood we headed to the 'downtown' area of Banja Luka and sat down for some wifi and coffee. Then we made our way to a restaurant right by the beautiful Vrbas river where we enjoyed the most delicious cevapi (very popular Bosnian cuisine). After dinner we all went to my grandpas cottage up top the hills which brought back lots of child hood memories for me. This was always my favorite place. So much nature; fruit trees, animals, flowers, and nice views. With my amazing luck I got stung by one of my grandpas bees for getting to close to take a picture. My grandpa played the guitar and sang some of his self written songs. After enjoying some delicious fruits and deserts we laid a blanket down in a field and watched the meteor shower. We saw so many big and amazing shooting stars it was quite a great way to end the night.
